PROVINCETOWN — All existing staff members of the harbormaster’s office and Provincetown Public Pier Corp. were rehired this week, and three of four newly created positions were filled.
The Pier Corp., the quasi-public entity created to manage MacMillan Pier, took over management of the town’s Marine Dept. in spring at the behest of the Board of Selectmen, and as part of that transition it made all staff reapply for their jobs and undergo extensive interviews.

MacMillan Pier wins $500,000 grant
By Pru Sowers
Banner Correspondent

PROVINCETOWN — The transformation of MacMillan Pier from a “flat deck” to the “gateway to Provincetown” got a boost this week when the town was awarded a substantial state grant.
The Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation approved a grant request of $375,000 to build a series of passenger shelters, public restrooms and ferry crew facilities at the end of the pier. This grant is being boosted with a $100,000 grant for in-kind services from the town and an additional $25,000 grant from the Cape Cod National Seashore.
